Comments & Replies

Hailed by Gunter Grass as the most important novelist from the old GDR, Uwe Johnson (1934-1984)chose to spend the last ten years of his life living in Sheerness on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent. Why and with what consequences?

This 45 minute radio documentary was broadcast as the Sunday Feature on Radio Three is the first outward expression of work I have been doing with the American translator Damion Searls over the last couple of years.  It was broadcast on 19 April 2015.
